| Note | These were scheduled to be hosted by U.C.G. in Galway on Thursday 21st May. U.C.G., at the request of U.C.D. , postponed these championships to Thursday 28th May. On 27th May, telegrams were received from U.C.G. cancelling the championships. U.C.C. had made arrangements to travel. No further explanation of the cancellation was received. The Irish Times recorded on May 27, 1942 that "The inter-university championships, fixed for Galway tomorrow, have been cancelled. It is understood that transport difficulties make it impossible to hold the fixture". Such difficulties could only have been on the part of U.C.D. Interestingly, U.C.G. successfully held its College Sports on Tuesday 26th May, indicating that the hosts were ready to conduct the intervarsity meeting. |
