The Irish Times recorded on May 16, 1944 under the title "University Notes - U.C.D." the following: "The Athletic Club announce their fixtures. Championships are to be held on Sunday, May 21st, and the annual sports are down for May 27th. There is no mention of any inter-university fixture. The possibility of managing to meet Cork or Galway emphasises the tragedy it is that the split between the two Athletic Unions prevents a meeting with Trinity." |
